About Us

Our Mission

To provide a safety net and increase access and to quality healthcare for all low-income, uninsured adult residents of Collier County.

History

Many members of the Collier County Medical Society (CCMS) were providing free medical services to its community and wanted a program that would not only embrace the Florida Department of Health’s Volunteer Healthcare Providers Act which provides sovereign immunity for pro bono care but one that would also address the gaps in access to healthcare in its community. In 2003, CCMS launched The Collier We Care initiative based on the Project Access Buncombe County Medical Society model that presents an integrated, organized model of volunteer medical care.

In the summer of 2004, Collier We Care received its 501(c)3 status and later became Physician Led Access Network (PLAN) of Collier County in January 2005.
